Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs File a Detention Request at Fort Dix: What’s The Reason?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Sean “Diddy” Combs, a renowned musician and producer, was sentenced to 50 months, or four years and two months, in federal prison on October 3, 2025.
This sentence was announced after he was found guilty of two counts of transportation of individuals for the purpose of prostitution.
The court also imposed a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release after serving his sentence.
On October 6, 2025, his attorneys formally filed a request that their client serve the remainder of his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix.
In a letter, Combs’ attorneys urged the judge presiding over his case, Arun Subramanian, to “strongly recommend” that the federal Bureau of Prisons place Combs at FCI Fort Dix, a large prison located on the grounds of the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst joint military base.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sentence Details
Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being found guilty in a prostitution-related case.
The sentence was handed down by a New York federal judge on October 3, 2025.
He was acquitted of more serious charges such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
In addition to the prison sentence, Combs was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.
After completing his sentence, he will serve five years of supervised release.
Since his arrest in September 2024, Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The 13 months served will count toward his total sentence, meaning he has approximately three years left to serve.
Why Sean Combs’ Legal Team Request Fort Dix?
On October 6, 2025, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team formally filed a request for placement at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix.
This request was submitted by Combs’ attorney, Teny Geragos, to Judge Arun Subramanian.
FCI Fort Dix is a low-security federal prison located in New Jersey.
The primary reason behind the request for placement at Fort Dix is the availability of the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP).
Combs’ legal team believes this program will help their client overcome his drug abuse issues.
In addition to the RDAP, Fort Dix’s proximity to Combs’ family was also an important consideration.
Combs’ attorneys stated that placement at Fort Dix would maximize rehabilitation efforts.
FCI Fort Dix: Will Sean Combs’ Request Accepted?
In a letter to Subramanian on the eve of sentencing, Combs said he has gone through a “spiritual reset” in jail and is “committed to the journey of remaining a drug free, non-violent and peaceful person.”
“I thank God that I’m stronger, wiser, clean, clear and sober,” he wrote.
Although the legal team has submitted recommendations, the final decision regarding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison placement rests with the Bureau of Prisons.
However, Subramanian has not yet acted on the request to recommend placement at FCI Fort Dix, according to CBS News.
Judges often make recommendations about where inmates should serve time, but it’s up to the Bureau of Prisons to decide.
